Last Summer it was announced that Star Trek would be getting a second new animated series (that was hinted at before). The new series will be aimed at a younger crowd and is titled Star Trek: Prodigy.
ViacomCBS announced that all their Trek series would be streaming on Paramount+ (the CBS All Access rebrand) at their Investor Day event, and in addition, released a first look image for Star Trek: Prodigy:
An updated description of the series was also released:
In Prodigy, six young outcasts know nothing about the ship they have commandeered – a first in the history of the Star Trek franchise, but over the course of their adventures together, they will each be introduced to Starfleet and the ideals it represents. Kate Mulgrew was previously announced as reprising the iconic role of Captain Kathryn Janeway to lead this brand new Prodigy bridge crew.
The show will air on Nickelodeon and stream on Paramount+ later this year.
