Okay, so maybe not so surprising.
The first Sonic the Hedgehog film had a rough genesis. Due to the adverse reaction to the first trailer, the filmmakers went back to the drawing board and retooled the film. It apparently worked as the movie went on to do well, being the most profitable movie based on a videogame so far.
Last May it was announced that the film did so well that it would get a sequel, and today we are finally getting the official title for the film. You ready?

Yes, the film will get the same name as the game’s 1992 sequel to the first game: Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Creative, eh? From the image, it may feature a story made from two tales.
Unless there is a delay just like for the first game, Sonic 2 should be dashing into theaters April 8, 2022.
