While the fandom awaits the next Godzilla slugfest (there is also a new anime too), there may be something else for them to consume. IDW is announcing that they once again have an agreement with Toho to produce Godzilla comics. IDW won the rights to the King of the Monsters (and friends) and produced several series between 2011 to 2015. Legendary published a couple of graphic novels, but those seem to be more directly related to the movies, than the general franchise. Well, now Godzilla returns to IDW in 2021.
Toho and IDW have a multi-year deal, which will bring Godzilla, as well as King Ghidorah, Mothra, Rodan, and others to both the printed and digital page starting April 2021. The first new project from IDW will be five-issue series aimed at middle school readers by Erik Burnham, Dan Schoening, and Luis Antonio Delgado. Looks like there will be humans again, bleh.
We’ll let you know when there are other projects announced in the future.
