Not The Shogun Warriors: Marvel Tries Again With ‘Avengers Mech Strike’ (Updated)

Back in the late 70s, Marvel published some comics based on the re-assembled Japanese mecha anime (and toys) called Shogun Warriors. A lot later, in 2005, Marvel went back to the giant robot well and published Mega Morphs, with tie-in toys, featuring robots that resembled Marvel characters. Well, the House of Ideas is back at it and in 2021 will once again feature comics starring giant robotic armor resembling Marvel heroes called Avengers Mech Strike.

The series will be written by Jed MacKay with art by Carlos Magno. Here is how the writer describes the series:

“Heavy metal! When the Avengers come up against something that defies their usual methods, new tools are needed for the job: giant robot suits”

“We’re going for non-stop, full-bore action, with a lineup of Avengers favorites going up against an unexpected new foe… that might end up being quite familiar! Aliens, robots, dinosaurs, Martians… it’s going to get worse before it gets better for our heroes.”

Though details are sparse, Avengers Mech Strike is being described as a “program” which will include:

“… comics, digital content, and more exciting products to be announced in the coming weeks and months!”

Look for Avengers Mech Strike to launch in February 2021.
