Back in May, Chris Ryall and John Barber announced that a new Beast Wars comic would be “coming very soon”. Well, it might be questionable if it is still “very soon”, but there is finally an update on the series and it has been revealed with a 2021 start, in time for the original animated series 25th anniversary.
Transformers: Beast Wars will have a creative team acquainted with Transformers comics; writer Erik Burnham (Transformers/Ghostbusters) and artist Josh Burcham (Transformers Galaxies, Wreckers saga, etc). Here is how IDW describes the new series:
The Transformers: Beast Wars comic series will welcome fans to a future Cybertron populated by scientific-minded Maximals and action-oriented Predacons. When the successor to the Megatron name steals a golden disk and a ship capable of traveling through time, only Optimus Primal and a team of Maximals — Rattrap, Rhinox, Cheetor, and a new character Nyx — can stop them.
Of course, being an IDW series, the first issue will launch with multiple covers, including regular cover A by Josh Burcham, and Retailer Incentive covers by Dan Schoening and Nick Brokenshire. Transformers: Beast Wars #1 will rampage onto shelves February 2021.
