The Star Wars Holiday Special is an infamous live-action TV special that aired once back in 1978, introducing fans to Chewbacca‘s family, the holiday of Life Day, our first official look at Boba Fett, and most importantly the characters of Krelman (Harvey Korman) and Ackmena (Bea Arthur). It wasn’t a good show, but lives on as a cult classic to Star Wars fans; in fact The Mandalorian producer Jon Favreau is interested in doing another Holiday Special.
Well, his words have been heard as a new Star Wars Holiday Special has been announced… well, a LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special has been announced anyway. And this is not just a recreation of the original special in LEGO-form, but a whole new story that takes place after the last film, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
Here’s how StarWars.com describes the upcoming special:
Set after the events of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Rey leaves her friends to prepare for Life Day as she embarks on a new adventure with BB-8 to gain a deeper knowledge of the Force. At a mysterious Jedi temple, Rey finds herself hurled into a cross-timeline adventure through beloved moments in Star Wars cinematic history, coming into contact with Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Yoda, Obi-Wan Kenobi and other iconic heroes and villains from all nine Skywalker saga films. But will she make it back in time for the Life Day feast and learn the true meaning of holiday spirit? You’ll have to watch to find out!
The LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special will stream on Life Day, November 17 on Disney+.
