IDW Publishing President/Publisher/Chief Creative Officer Chris Ryall has stepped down from his position at the company. In the press release, he mentions working alongside Ashley Wood to develop their World Of Syzygy. Syzygy is a publishing venture teased by Ryall and Wood going back to 2018, which is described as a “new publishing and entertainment venture focused on developing new voices alongside industry veterans.”
“Change is often hard, and I will miss this extended family I have worked with for more than 15 years,” said Ryall. “In the past year alone, we brought on some amazing hires, expanded the scope of many of the departments, and re-focused the foundation of the business to best support the integrated multi-media company that IDW has become. Our collective success with the entertainment team on ‘Locke & Key’ has been a crowning moment for the entire company. I’m so proud of this special place and the incredible people who work here. I know that I leave IDW perfectly poised for continued success.”
Ryall joined the company in 2004 as Editor-In-Chief and added Chief Creative Officer to his titles in 2011. He briefly left the company in 2018 for eight months to work at Skybound, before returning as CCO and later President and Publisher.
He’ll still maintain a relationship with IDW though. He intends to be sole editor of any future Locke & Key projects and will remain as an executive producer of Netflix’s adaptation of the comic.
