Writing Team To Wrestle With Gaming Title: ‘Dungeons & Dragons: At The Spine Of The World’

Like last year’s D&D Live, 2020’s version revealed a bunch of products expanding the world of the famous tabletop roleplaying game Dungeons & Dragons. Like last year, there were a couple of D&D comic titles announced, one tying in with a popular TV show (last year was Rick and Morty; this year Stranger Things) and one tying in with an upcoming roleplaying game supplement. This year the scene will be moving from the hellish landscape to a colder environment. The big game adventure this September will be Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden, and the comic set in the same area is titled Dungeons & Dragons: At the Spine of the World.

Teaming up to write this four-issue miniseries are former professional wrestler AJ Mendez and Lucifer star Aimee Garcia. The two have worked on a comic before, another four-issue series based on the Netflix wrestling show titled GLOW vs. The Babyface. The two will get an assist from artist Martín Cóccolo on the upcoming mini-series. Here is how publisher IDW describes the module series:

In At the Spine of the World, the never-ending winter’s night is slowly driving an isolated town in the depths of Icewind Dale to the brink of insanity. To save them all, a perilous journey awaits a band of adventurers as they battle a furious icy god and uncover the plot of an ancient primordial evil.

You can start reading Dungeons & Dragons: At the Spine of the World at level 1 in September. Like most IDW products, the first issue will feature multiple covers”

… including Cover A by Martin Coccolo, a roleplaying game-style Character Sheet design by Max Davenport as Cover B, and two Retailer Incentive editions by Catherine Nodet and Max Davenport, respectively.
