‘Cyberpunk 2077’ Gets An Anime Series

The upcoming videogame from CD Projekt (Witcher  game series) is Cyberpunk 2077, which is expected to launch in November, is also spinning off stories in other media. Already solicited for September, is a 4-issue mini-series titled Cyberpunk 2077: Trauma Team published by Dark Horse, and today another projekct was announced: an anime series.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is a 10-episode animated series which tells the story of:

“… a street kid trying to survive in a technology and body modification-obsessed city of the future. Having everything to lose, he chooses to stay alive by becoming an edgerunner—a mercenary outlaw also known as a cyberpunk.”

The series will take place in the same universe as Cyberpunk 2077 (which itself had some of its inspiration – and logo – from the 1988 table top role-playing game Cyberpunk by R. Talsorian Games) and will be animated by TRIGGER Inc, who are famous for their kinetic productions such as Kill la Kill and Promare. The series is expected in 2022 and will stream on Netflix.
