Though filming on the second season of the Star Wars spin-off The Mandalorian has wrapped, rumors are still arriving about the show. Previously we’ve had rumors about Michael Biehn having a role, Rosario Dawson cast in a familar role, and an appearance of another bounty hunter clad in Mandalorian armor; and now is the rumor of another character making her live-action debut on the show, played by the actor who voiced her previously.
The rumor has actress Katee Sackhoff reprising her role from season 4 of the animated Star Wars: The Clone Wars episode “A Friend in Need” of the Mandalorian Bo-Katan Kryze. Beside that role, Sackhoff may be recognizable from her portrayal of Starbuck from the 2004 reimagining of Battlestar Galactica. She also appeard in the Riddick movie, CW‘s The Flash series, and the Netflix series Another Life. She voiced the Bo-Katan character in all of her appearances in Clone Wars, and the follow up animated series Star Wars Rebels. Bo-Katan was a member of the Mandalorian splinter group Death Watch (the same group that rescued the Mandalorian as a youth) and eventually became the leader of the Mandalorian people, wielding the symbol of leadership, the Darksaber.
And if you watched the first season of The Mandalorian, it would be understandable if you are rubbing your chin now, saying “hmmmm…” The Mandalorian takes place around ten years after Bo-Katan last appears in the fourth season 2-parter Heroes of Mandalore so it isn’t much of a stretch for Sackhoff to play her in live-action.
it’s unknown how large a role Sackhoff will play in The Mandalorian, if at all. We guess we’ll find out if Moff Gideon will face the wrath of Katan when the second season of The Mandalorian lands in October (assuming the pandemic does not affect its scheduling) streaming on Disney+.
