Toy Story 4 Director To Helm Animated Prequel Story Based On ‘Transformers’ Toys

Back in 2015, while Michael Bay was laying waste to the live-action Transformers movies, word of an animated feature film was revealed. At the time, it was said to be a prequel set on Cybertron with the working title of “Transformers One”. Now, that film has received a director in the form of Toy Story 4‘s Josh Cooley. The film retains the writers attached to the project in 2015, Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari. and is said to be an origin story featuring Optimus Prime and Megatron.

Those two have been in many previous iterations of Transformers continuity, and it looks like the film will add another continuity to the pile as it will be “separate and apart” from the live-action Transformers movies and the Bumblebee movie. Our editor-in-chief Tim cannot wait to see the teenage emo Optimus Prime, complete with cyberzits.

No release date has been announced for the upcoming animated movie.
