Before Disney‘s streaming service — Disney+ — launched, a few original series were announced for the platform. One of them was based on the Star Wars spin-off movie Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which is a prequel focusing on the character Cassian Andor (because a sequel featuring Andor would be very boring).
Though production had started for a few weeks on the upcoming show, the COVID-19 pandemic has halted the production for now. However, that hasn’t stopped the show from casting for the show. It’s being reported that two actors have been recruited for the show: Stellan Skarsgård and Kyle Soller.
Skarsgård is a veteran actor who has appeared in many films including Good Will Hunting, Amistad, and the recent TV series Chernobyl. Genre fans will recognize him from the Pirates of the Caribbean sequel movies, and Thor and Avengers movies.
Soller is relatively new to the scene but has appeared in the HBO movie Brexit and on the British TV series 101 Dalmatian Street.
No details about what roles either actors will play were revealed. Alan Tudyk (K2SO) and Diego Luna (Cassian Andor) will reprise their roles for the series. Rogue One co-writer Tony Gilroy will write the premiere and several episodes for the series. An official release date has not been announced for the series.
