New ‘The Orville’ Comic Mini-Series To Take Place After Season 2

A new two-issue comic mini-series will bridge the gap between seasons 2 and 3 of The Orville science-fiction dramedy show. The upcoming series will be titled The Orville Season 2.5: Launch Day, which will have two parts. This format is similar to the previous The Orville comic which had two-issue chapters bridging the gap between seasons 1 and 2. The same creative team from the first comic will be back: writer (and The Orville show’s executive producer) David A. Goodman, artist David Cabeza, and colorist Michael Atiyeh. Here’s how the first issue of the new mini is described:

When seemingly hostile Krill ships cross into Union space, the Orville intercepts. Captain Mercer learns they are en route to a planet that left the Union decades ago, under mysterious circumstances. Scans have discovered a moon-sized construct above the planet, and the Krill intend a preemptive strike against the presumed weapon. But is it?

The Orville Season 2.5: Launch Day #1 cover

The Orville Season 2.5: Launch Day #1 will launch on June 3. The third season of The Orville is scheduled to launch on Hulu (moving from Fox) in the Fall… Though that may change as the production for The Orville season 3 is being put in stasis because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Maybe more chapters will be needed…
