Orlando ‘s First Page With Marvel Starts With ‘Darkhold Alpha’

Steve Orlando, known mostly for his work at DC Comics, is making his Marvel debut with a damned comic: Darkhold Alpha. The Darkhold, aka. the Book of the Damned or the Book of Sins, first appeared in 1972’s Marvel Spotlight #4 featuring Werewolf By Night. The fictional book was written by Elder God Chthon and was a source of power to its user and was a tether to Earth for Chthon. Those who use it though, usually pay a price.

Well, it looks like the Darkhold will fall into new hands (again) this Summer, and we will all be doomed:

For hundreds of years, scholars and heroes alike have searched for the complete text of the Darkhold—AKA the Book of the Damned, written by the elder god Chthon. Now one of the greatest sorcerers in the Multiverse has found it—and Chthon has found him. To save them all, the Scarlet Witch must gather the world’s greatest heroes…and unleash their inner darkness.

Scarlet Witch eh? Well, we know nothing could go wrong when Wanda gets involved with the Darkhold and Chthon right? By the naming scheme, Darkhold Alpha sounds like a one-shot that starts an event, but that hasn’t been confirmed by Marvel… yet.

Darkhold Alpha, written by Steve Orlando, illustrated by Cian Tormey, with a cover by Greg Smallwood, opens up in June.
