Last Summer the X-Men line of comics were reset at the hands of writer Jonathan Hickman with just two titles, House of X and Powers of X (pronounced “House of Ten”). Of course, you know Marvel couldn’t stop at two titles, as those series ended to spawn a new lineup of X-titles. A year after the relaunch comes yet another X-over for the X-titles.
Announced at C2E2, the next X-Men X-over will be titled X of Swords (pronounced “Ten of Swords”). Jonathan Hickman will take the reigns of the upcoming 15-part Summer event of which the title seems pretty literal:
… this sprawling saga will find the mutants of Krakoa facing their biggest challenge yet.
Threatened by powerful forces from the unknown, ten mutants will rise up to defend their home. Arming themselves with legendary blades both new and familiar, mutantkind will finally meet its mystical destiny. Impacting the entire X-Men franchise and setting the stage for the future of mutantkind, X OF SWORDS will be a modern X-Men epic that both longtime and new X-Men fans can’t miss.
X of Swords unsheaths itself in July.
