During the Transformers portion of the Hasbro Pulse presentation at New York Toy Fair this past weekend, the company previewed the newest entry to the animated “G1” entrant: Transformers: War For Cybertron Trilogy: Siege. In 2018, shortly after the release of the final chapter of the previous G1 animated trilogy, Transformers: Prime Wars Trilogy, Power of the Primes, it was hinted that there would be more. At the time, we guessed it would tie in to the then upcoming Transformers: War For Cybertron toyline, and it looks like we were right.
With Machinima gone though, the next series will be produced by the Rooster Teeth (RWBY, gen:LOCK) team and streamed on Netflix rather than go90 with the Polygon Pictures (Transformers: Prime, Transformers: Robots in Disguise, Godzilla: Planet of Monsters) folks on animation. Peter Cullen is not voicing Optimus Prime in the new series, but Jason Marnocha appears to be back as Megatron. No release date has been revealed, but it is promised to be “coming soon”.
The trailer was shown during the livestream and Netflix has posted it along with a short description:
In the midst of ongoing war on Cybertron, forces of good and evil clash as they search for the source of their power: the Allspark. This may not be the life they imagined, but it’s a life worth fighting for. Transformers: War For Cybertron Trilogy: Siege is coming soon, only on Netflix.
Also, the presentation indicated that there would be tie-in comics from IDW related to this show.
