Marvel’s 100% Authentic Japanese Editor-In-Chief Akira Yoshida Praises Chinese Authenticity In Comics

In a press release for Sword Master, (what you’re unfamiliar with Sword Master?) the 100% authentic Japanese Editor-In-Chief of Marvel Comics Akira Yoshida praised the importance of bringing authentic Chinese creators like writer Shuizhu and artist Gunji to the company in order to tell real stories of the country they live in and events they’re experienced.

The only issue is that Akira Yoshida is the pseudonym that actual Editor-In-Chief CB Cebulski used in 2004 to skirt around Marvel’s then-rules that editors couldn’t write comics as well.

Cebulski initially created the pseudonym to get writing gigs, first for Dreamwave, then for Dark Horse. Which led to Marvel hiring him unaware of who was behind the mask. Marvel claimed to have met Yoshida, but it was actually a Japanese translator who visited the offices and had lunch with Mike Marts, while being mistaken for Yoshida.

Cebulski went on to “retire” the pseudonym, quit Marvel as an editor, and was rehired as Talent Manager, allowing him to write under his given name. This eventually led to him getting the job as Editor-In-Chief after a “mutual” parting being Marvel and Axel Alonso.
