Taiki Waititi Open To Star Wars Movie If It’s Not Career Suicide

In a Variety piece, Oscar-winning director Taika Waititi was asked about the rumors that he’s involved in directing a Star Wars film. It doesn’t seem too far-fetched as Waititi directed the season finale of The Mandalorian and voiced the character IG-11.

Waititi mentioned how there’s rumors going around because of The Mandalorian.

I think people see me hanging out with people, especially with “Star Wars,” and think I’m having some big discussions about it. I would f—ing love to.

He then further clarified his stance, as long as the project wasn’t career suicide.

If it was right. I would want to do any kind of movie if it made sense, and if it felt not like career suicide.

It doesn’t seem like he’s correlating that directing Star Wars leads to career suicide, but rather that he doesn’t want to do any project that leads to it.
