Archie Comics’ Editor In Chief Victor Gorelick Dies At 78

On Friday, the official Archie Comics Twitter account tweeted that longtime Editor In Chief Victor Gorelick has passed away.

Gorelick joined Archie in 1957, when he was only 16, working in their production department. He served in the US Navy from 1960 to 1964 and continued to freelance for Archie. Following his service, he returned to Archie full time, rising through Archie’s ranks to become Production Coordinator, Art Director, Editor, Managing Editor, and then Editor-in-Chief in 2007.

Gorelick also served on the advisory board for the Joe Kubert School of Cartoon and Graphic Art in Dover, New Jersey and was part of the Comic Magazine Association of America’s Code Authority Guidelines Committee.
