HBO programming chief Casey Bloys has revealed that the network will not create a sequel to Watchmen, thus granting co-creator Alan Moore’s wishes that no more Watchmen be created.
“It’s really in Damon’s thinking about what he wants to do. If there’s an idea that excited him about another season, another installment, maybe like a ‘Fargo,’ ‘True Detective’ (anthology) take on it, or if he wants to do something different altogether. We’re very proud of ‘Watchmen,’ but what I’m most interested in what Damon wants to do.”
And what Damon Lindelof wants to do is nothing with Watchmen as he claims he’s not interested in it anymore.
Though don’t count HBO out completely, as Lindelof has given HBO his blessing if the network wants to become the target of Moore’s next wizard spell and create a sequel to Watchmen.
Meanwhile, Lindelof is free to adapt Miracleman now in his ongoing quest to get Moore to pay attention to him.
