Warner Bros. is set to adapt the Image Comics series The New World into a feature film written by screenwriter Jeremy O. Harris. He’s best-known for the Broadway play Slave Play and co-wrote the upcoming film Zola. The New World is not to be confused with the 2005 movie of the same name written and directed by Terrence Malick and starring Colin Farrell as Captain John Smith and Q’orianka Kilcher as Pocahontas.
The New World is written by Aleš Kot and drawn by Tradd Moore. It tells a modern day Romeo and Juliet story set after the second civil war between a straight-edge vegan hacker anarchist boy and a chaotic, hedonistic cop with a reality TV show and a license to kill.
No release date has been set, but will someone please use a smoke signal to tell Kot that this is happening since he’s likely still in the woods.
