COMPLETE WORKS OF FANTE BUKOWSKI HC
(W) Noah Van Sciver (A/CA) Noah Van Sciver
Fante Bukowski, a “writer’s writer” that no writer’s ever read, must overcome no actual talent to gain the respect and adoration of critics and, more importantly, his father. The Complete Works of Fante Bukowski assembles all three volumes of Noah Van Sciver’s Award-nominated series. This omnibus collection also includes an introduction by novelist Ryan Boudinot (Blueprints of the Afterlife), a facsimile reproduction of Bukowski’s notorious self-published zine, 6 Poems, a works cited section, and many other surprises!

ART YOUNG INFERNO HC
(W) Art Young (A/CA) Art Young
In 1934, Art Young created his satirical take on Dante’s Inferno, producing not just one of the most searing indictments of capitalism ever published but also an exquisite work of art. Capitalist oligarchs, condemned to Hell, lead a hostile takeover, throw out Satan, and turn the Inferno into the last bastion of the free market. Each page of Young’s art has been scanned from the original art and is reproduced here in full color. Inferno also includes a new introduction by Steven Heller, a foreword by editor Glenn Bray, and the original 1934 essays by Young himself.

COWBOY HC
(W) Rikke Villadsen (A/CA) Rikke Villadsen
In this wild west frontier town, nothing is quite what it seems. Painted ladies soar through the sky, townsfolk flicker and fade, and gender seems as fluid as oozing ink. At the heart of this surreal tale, a restless woman longs to break free from her confinement and ride off into the sunset. Both an homage to the classic Spaghetti Westerns of Sergio Leone and a fiercely feminist send-up of gruff masculinity, Cowboy is a Western unlike any other.

COMICS JOURNAL #305
The Comics Journal #305 will shine a light on how the livelihood and artwork created by cartoonists is affected by chronic disease, disability, and our nation’s health care system. This issue also features a hand-printed ‘zine created in 1967 by the SNCC and the Black Panther Party reporting about a black community in Alabama that attempted to take back their voting rights in their local elections. There is also a profile on cartoonist Kevin Huizenga (Ganges) that asks the question: After you’ve finished your magnum opus, now what?

TAD MARTIN TEARS OF LEATHER BOUND SAINTS GN (MR)
(W) Casanova Frankenstein (A/CA) Casanova Frankenstein
In Tad Martin: Tears of the Leather-bound Saints, Cassanova Frankenstein invades the straight world with his madcap ink line and macabre vision. When the author’s coolly detached avatar gets fired from his shitty manual labor job, he spits bitter truths about insidious corporate greed and the soul-crushing rat race. From there, in a series of emotionally raw vignettes, he offers glimpses into his rough upbringing, from his dysfunctional home life to his childhood insecurities and racial anxieties – ultimately revealing the roots of his punk sensibility. A deeply vulnerable work from a true comics outsider.
