Comics writer/artist Frank Miller is suing his ex-wife and long-time collaborator Lynn Varley claiming that she stole rough sketches of his work and was attempting to sell them under the table. He claims that she hid these sketches before the pair got divorced.
Miller and Varley married in 1986 and divorced in 2005. Varley was the colorist on classic Miller titles including Ronin, The Dark Knight Returns, The Dark Knight Strikes Again, 300, and Big Guy and Rusty the Boy Robot.
According to the divorce agreement, the pair split their illustrations and artwork, but the sketches were Miller’s. His lawsuit asks for the roughs back and for an injunction to stop Varley from selling or destroying them, in addition to $25,000 in damages.
