The Comics Reporter Tom Spurgeon Dead At 50

The Eisner-winning and industry beloved comics journalist Tom Spurgeon died Wednesday at the age of 50. Spurgeon was co-founder of The Comics Reporter and worked as the Executive Director of Cartoon Crossroads Columbus since 2015. Spurgeon and The Comics Reporter won the Eisner Award for Best Comics-Related Periodical/Journalism in 2010, 2012, and 2013.

He co-authored the Stan Lee biography Stan Lee and the Rise and Fall of the American Comic Book as well as the historical book We Told You So: Comics As Art and the John Romita Sr. tribute, The Romita Legacy.
