Spike Lee To Direct Ron Wimberly’s Prince Of Cats Adaptation

Spike Lee is set to direct and co-write Legendary’s adaptation of Prince Of Cats. Also co-writing will be Selwyn Seyfu Hinds and Prince Of Cats creator Ron Wimberly. Lakeith Stanfield previously signed on as the lead role.

Prince Of Cats is an ’80s hip-hop reimagining of Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet. The title comes from a derogatory name directed at Tybalt and follows him and his Capulet brothers as they navigate Da People’s Republic of Brooklyn, which sees them cross paths with their rival Montagues, all in a vibrant hip-hop world of DJing, breakdancing, and graffiti.

Originally published by Vertigo, subsequent reprints were done by Image Comics.
