‘My Little Pony: Pony Life’ Cartoon & Toys Announced (Updated)

Life just keeps getting better for our ace cartoon reporter Zechs. His favorite show ended earlier this year, so things were pretty gloomy around the Comics Pit bullpen, but last week things picked up with the announcement of a new My Little Pony movie in 2021. Even with that good news, the movie was far away, and no details were revealed regarding if his favorite characters would be back.

Well, here comes the second ray of sunshine for our boy. Hasbro has revealed an all new line of My Little Pony toys and a new animated series to go along with them too! And, Zechs can look forward to the return of Friendship is Magic characters like Twilight Sparkle, Fluttershy, and Rarity as toys and a cartoon titled My Little Pony: Pony Life. The premise of the new series has changed a bit too:

Pony Life relocates the ponies to Sugarcube Corner, a local bakery hangout run by Pinkie Pie, which also houses a mysterious cache of magical potions to be broken out when the need arises. The new series will feature all of Friendship Is Magic‘s beloved ensemble — including Twilight Sparkle, Rarity, and Fluttershy — as well as the same voice actors returning. Befitting the title, Pony Life’s stories will reportedly be more “slice of life”-oriented than the adventure-driven Friendship Is Magic.

The new cartoon will debut on Discover Family in 2020, still a bit far away. As indicated, there will be new toys too. You can preview the toys in the promotional video, as well as get a tiny peek at the ponies in animation:

Update: It looks like Zechs won’t have to wait that long for the toys. The new line launches Winter 2019.
