Zdarsky Takes On The ‘X-Men/Fantastic Four’ While Hickman Starts ‘Giant-Size X-Men’

Marvel just put out their January 2020 solicitations yesterday, and now they are starting with February announcements. The company is making a bunch of announcements at MCM Comic Con London and here are two of them that are mutant related.

Writer Chip Zdarsky is returning to the Fantastic Four universe that he dabbled in in the Marvel Two-In-One revival series with X-Men/Fantastic Four. The new four-issue series should not be confused with the 1987 Fantastic Four Versus the X-Men four-issue series, nor the 2005 X-Men/Fantastic Four five-issue series. Zdarsky’s series stems from the recent relaunch of the X-titles by Jonathan Hickman (plus the relaunch of the Fantastic Four which Zdarsky’s Two-In-One led to). The series focus will be on the FF’s mutant member, Franklin Richards.

Marvel teased the series with:

When Cyclops met the First Family in New York City in issue #1 of HOUSE OF X, the two sides were at odds; “Please greet your son for me…” Slim said upon his exit, “…and tell him when he’s ready…he has family on Krakoa waiting for him.” A foreboding scene that X-fans and FF fanatics have been eager to see expanded upon—and now they will.

Zdarsky will be joined on the mini-series by the art team of Terry Dodson, Rachel Dodson, and colorist Laura Martin.

Another upcoming X-title has a familiar name as well with Marvel making Giant-Size X-Men a series. Writer Jonathan Hickman will pair with a different artist and a focus on different characters, for each issue of the series. The first of the new series, with art by Russell Dauterman, will pair up Jean Grey and Emma Frost to rescue Storm. Hickman and Dauterman will be joined by colorist Matt Wilson on Giant-Size X-Men: Jean Grey and Emma Frost #1.
