Roc Upchurch Returns To Image Comics As John Upchurch With Lucy Claire: Redemption

Roc Upchurch was one half of the creative team behind Rat Queens at Image Comics with writer Kurtis Wiebe. In 2014, he was arrested for domestic violence and subsequently taken off Rat Queens. 2015 saw Upchurch give an interview to CBR where he said the charges were being taken off his record following a six month counseling program.

In Image Comics’ December 2019 solicitations, the title Lucy Claire: Redemption was solicited being written and drawn by John Upchurch, Roc’s legal name. The solicit text reads:

Lucy Claire was once a celebrated hero. But through a series of sinister events, she was slandered and defamed, and her children were taken from her. But when an old danger re-emerges, Lucy will have to take on the mantle of hero once again in order to right the wrongs of her past and—above all else—find a way back to her children.

The description could be interpreted as being inspired by true life events.

Lucy Claire: Recdemption #1 is set to be released December 11, 2019.
