As if Funko Pops weren’t already taking over everything, Warner Animation Group is developing a movie based on the vinyl toys. Mark Dindal is in place to direct the film, whose only other directorial credit is the upcoming untitled animated Garfield movie. Although he has been an animator at Disney since 1981’s The Fox and The Hound. Teddy Newton, a Pixar animator, is developing the story.
Allison Abbate, Executive VP of Warner Animation Group, who clearly is in this strictly for the money, says:
“Their fresh take on pop culture make these figurines incredibly appealing to fans of all ages.”
Warner Animation Group’s upcoming releases include Space Jam 2, Scoob, and Tom & Jerry.
No release date for the Funko movie has been given.
