Is Tom Hanks aiming to take down Buzz Lightyear? The movie legend is set to star in an upcoming movie based on the 1966 Mattel toy franchise Major Matt Mason. The Major Matt Mason toyline were astronaut-themed toys, who came on to the scene during the space race. Unlike our space race (well, that we know of), Mason had to face giant aliens.
Akiva Goldsman will pen the Mason script adapting a short story by Michael Chabon. Mattel will be involved with the live-action film, which will be produced by Paramount Pictures. No launch date was announced.
