After talks between Disney and Sony fell apart regarding Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Sony Pictures chairman and CEO Tony Vinciquerra broke the news to fans that Spider-Man will have to settle for being part of the Sony Cinematic Universe instead.
“Spider-Man was fine before the event movies, did better with the event movies, and now that we have our own universe, he will play off the other characters as well. I think we’re pretty capable of doing what we have to do here.”
Tell that to the Andrew Garfield Spider-Man movies, Tony.
Sony is currently working on a sequel to Venom, a movie based on Morbius The Living Vampire, and five or six TV series set in Spider-Man’s world.
