HBO’s Watchmen Debut Date Pits It Against Walking Dead And Supergirl

HBO’s Watchmen TV show will air Sunday nights at 9pm EST starting October 20. This time slot will force it to compete against with AMC’s The Walking Dead and CW’s Supergirl, which both return October 6.

“Set in an alternate history where ‘superheroes’ are treated as outlaws, Watchmen embraces the nostalgia of the original groundbreaking graphic novel of the same name while attempting to break new ground of its own.”

HBO’s Watchmen is loosely based on Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons’ comic book of the same name. Creator Damon Lindelof is using the source material as a jumping off point as opposed to doing a straight forward adaptation.

Watchmen stars Jeremy Irons, Regina King, Jean Smart, Don Johnson, Tim Blake Nelson, Louis Gossett Jr., Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Adelaide Clemens, Andrew Howard, Tom Mison, Frances Fisher, Jacob Ming-Trent, Sara Vickers, Dylan Schombing, Lily Rose Smith, and Adelynn Spoon.
