Marvel Cartoons Are For Kids: ‘Moon Girl And Devil Dinosaur’ & ‘Spidey And His Amazing Friends’

Disney‘s D23 Expo not only had Marvel announcements for adults, but for kids and kids at heart. Two new cartoons were announced featuring Marvel characters, one based on Spider-Man, the other on Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur.

Spidey and His Amazing Friends, a title no doubt referencing the 1981 Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends cartoon, is a full-length cartoon series aimed at pre-schoolers. Rather than his main teammates being Iceman and Firestar though, Spidey will mainly hang out with his other Spider-Verse pals Miles Morales and Gwen Stacey (aka. Ghost-Spider). They’ll team-up with other non-spidery characters though like Hulk, Black Panther, and Ms. Marvel. Your kids might be grown up by the time this show hits Disney Junior though, as it is expected in 2021. The biggest question though is, will it feature Ms. Lion?!

Spidey and His Amazing Friends: Ghost-Spider, Peter Parker, Miles Morales

As reported last year, Silver Surfer and Bill Foster actor Laurence Fishburne is executive producing a cartoon series based on the 2016 Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur comic. The show follows the basic premise of the comic:

“… the series follows the adventures of 13-year-old super-genius Lunella Lafayette and her ten-ton T-Rex, Devil Dinosaur. After Lunella accidentally brings Devil Dinosaur into present-day New York City via a time vortex, the duo works together to protect the city’s Lower East Side from danger.”

Disney Television Animation will be producing the series which will air on the Disney Channel. No release date was provided for the show.
