As the fallout from the broken deal between Disney and Sony, more facts are emerging. It was originally reported that Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider-Man: Far From Home director Jon Watts was signed onto the next two Spider-Man films, but he’s currently not. Additionally, he’s being courted by other studios for other jobs.
Previously Disney and Sony had a deal that Spider-Man, to which Sony had the film rights, could appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In exchange, Sony, which finances their own films, would give Disney 5% off the box office gross. Disney tried to renegotiate terms so they the two companies would split financing 50/50 in exchange to splitting box office gross 50/50. Sony didn’t accept the terms and walked, losing access to Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige.
Meanwhile, Tom Holland’s film deal was for “three Spider-Man [appearances in other] movies and three solo movies contracted.”
