Comichron has released its compiled sales information for comic sales in July 2019 and sales are up compared to the previous month. This brings the single issue amount bought by comic shops to around 39.55 million copies and $250.19 million.
Month over month comic book and graphic novel sales were way up thanks to big releases from Marvel and Image. Overall year over year comic and graphic novel sales were up in dollars, but down in units.
Marvel dominated in both dollar and unit shares, with DC about %15 lower on both accounts. IDW overtook Dark Horse to take the fourth spot and Dynamite overtook Boom to take the sixth.
Marvel took five of the top ten spots for comic books by units, including the top three spots thanks to House of X #1 and Powers of X #1. Image’s Walking Dead #193, the final issue, took the fourth spot. DC took the remaining four slots on the list.
Unsurprisingly, the $5.99 price tag didn’t deter readers and made sure House of X #1 and Powers of X #1 took the top spots. Amazing Spider-Man #25 with its price tag of $7.99 gave it the third spot.
DC released Joker in paperback and it took the top spot for graphic novels by units, giving the publisher two spots. Marvel and Image both took three spots in the top ten, while First Second and IDW each took one.
For graphic novels by dollar amounts, Marvel took the top spot with the $125 Conan The Barbarian: Original Marvel Years Ombinus Vol 2 HC. The publisher ended up with three entries in the top ten. DC had three, Image had two, while First Second and IDW each took one.
Marvel had the most releases combining for a total of 150. DC took the second spot with 110.
