At the San Diego Comic-Con retailer summit, Marvel teased a return to the event that gave new life to its cosmic titles, 2006’s Annihilation. Annihilation told the tale of Negative Zone bad guy Annihilus leading a wave of his people to invade positive matter universe. The main comic was written by Keith Giffen, with its Nova tie-in featuring future Marvel cosmic architects Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning. The event made popular the modern interpretations of Star-Lord, Rocket Raccoon, Groot, Drax, Ronan, Nova, and Guardians of the Galaxy.
Not much information was given about the next Annihilation event, aside from the November start date and a cover by Ariel Olivetti. Apparently the project will also involve current Guardians of the Galaxy writer Donny Cates. The tagline for the event is “Annihilation is only the beginning…”
