‘Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ To End After Season 7

Before Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘s current season 6 debuted, a 7th season was announced to the surprise of many. However, it is now being revealed that that 7th season will be the show’s last. Season 6 will end on August 2 with a special 2-hour episode.

Season 7 will air next Summer, with 13 episodes slated before the end. Marvel TV‘s Jeph Loeb spins this as a positive:

“Going into Season 7, when you know you only have 13 more stories, you really do get a chance to see what that writers’ room is going to do when they can do anything. It was the best kind of creative situation.”

On the conclusion:

“So we can actually build a season that will tie up any threads that are there. To make sure that we come to a conclusion that’s satisfying to the fans, to the cast, to Marvel, and to ABC.”

“… it will conclude in a way that is incredibly emotional and in the best ways. It’s funny, it’s heartbreaking, it’s…”

We’ll see. There are a couple of episodes of season 6 left, and the cast and crew will be appearing later this week at San Diego Comic-Con.
