Proving There’s No God, Game Of Thrones Season 8 Gets 32 Emmy Nominations

Stunning everyone HBO actually submitted season 8 of Game of Thrones to be considered for the Emmy Awards. To everyone’s surprise, the show garnered 32 nominations, which is record-breaking. The previous record was set by NYPD Blue in 1994 with 26 nominations.

The nominations include:

  • Outstanding Main Title Design
  • Outstanding Music Composition For A Series, Original Dramatic Score (The Long Night)
  • Outstanding Lead Actor In A Drama Series (Kit Harington as Jon Snow)
  • Outstanding Lead Actress In A Drama Series (Emilia Clarke as Daenerys Targaryen)
  • Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Drama Series (Alfie Allen as Theon GreyjoyNikolaj Coster-Waldau as Jamie LannisterPeter Dinklage as Tyrion Lannister)

Somehow the series finale The Iron Throne received four nominations including best directing. It is still the lowest rated episode on Rotten Tomatoes, sitting at 49%.

The Emmy nominations will be revealed July 16 at 11:30 a.m. ET/8:30 a.m. PT. The 71st Primetime Emmy Awards will air Sunday, September 22 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on Fox.
