In what’s probably the craziest news of the day (so far), is the reveal that Rob Liefeld will be doing a G.I. Joe comic in 2020 (hey just in time for a certain live action movie) for IDW. The mini will be called Snake-Eyes: Deadgame and be released early next year with the third issue being planned for release after numerous delays in 2063.
The news was revealed today via an exclusive press release from IDW. Liefeld had this to say about probably writing and drawing the series (it’s not really clear other than the two covers that were also released in the press release and only his name alone is splattered across both covers):
“Two words: ‘bucket list,’” Liefeld said in a statement. “One more word: ‘icon.’ Snake Eyes is Wolverine, Deadpool, and Spider Man rolled into one amazing character for an entire generation of fans that thrilled to his adventures in comics and cartoons and hung on his every toy release!”
Even with the announcement one has to wonder if the mini will in relation to the new G.I. Joe ongoing that IDW will be launching later this year. Or will it be it’s own thing and self-contained?
Here are the two covers shown as well featuring Snake-Eyes, Scarlet, Storm Shadow (but if so why is he wearing a trench-coat?!), and a mysterious red ninja (so the leader of the Red Ninja Clan that’s always been a thorn in the side of the Arashikage clan that Storm and Snake are apart of).
