DC Announces Joker And Question Black Label Titles From Jeff Lemire Because There Aren’t Enough Joker Stories

DC Comics has announced two new Black Label titles for its mature imprint from writer Jeff Lemire. The first is titled Joker: Killer Smile and Lemire is joined on art by artist Andrea Sorrentino. The story tells of Joker’s run-in with a mental health professional who isn’t Harley Quinn.

i09 was given the exclusive reveal and asked the hard-hitting questions about the series.

io9: When we think about the characters in Batman’s orbit who really define the darkness that follows him, the Joker obviously comes to mind, and Killer Smile happens to come at a time when we’re having conversations about the Joker because there are so many incarnations of the character bouncing around in the spotlight right now—Jared Leto, Joaquin Phoenix, the Batman Who Laughs, you get what I’m talking about.

Lemire: Yeah, yeah.

io9: The Joker’s obviously a beloved character, but his popularity has lead to the character being picked apart and dissected from so many perspectives over the years, that there are times when you can’t help but wonder what new ground can broken with him.

Lemire: Yeah.

Oh, wait. Those weren’t questions at all.

The second series focuses on The Question and is aptly titled The Question: The Deaths of Vic Sage. Joining Lemire on the series are artists Denys Cowan and Bill Sienkiewicz and the story follows The Question as he discovers he has been living and dying in Hub City since the times of the Old West.

Both titles are set to release this fall.
