It looks like animated series based on videogames are a rage at Netflix (see Castlevania and Devil May Cry). The streaming giant has made another deal to bring the adventures of Cuphead to the smaller screen with The Cuphead Show! Cuphead is a “run and gun” game made my Studio MDHR in 2017, initially for Windows and Xbox One. It later moved on to Mac OS and Nintendo Switch. The game is known for its visuals, resembling the old 1930s Fleischer and Disney cartoons, and high difficulty.
The game allowed you to play as Cuphead or Mugman traveling through levels, fighting bosses, and trying to repay their debt to the devil. Future DLC would introduce another playable character, Ms.Chalice. The animated series will expand on the world of the game:
The character-driven comedy follows the unique misadventures of the impulsive Cuphead and his cautious but easily swayed brother Mugman. Through their many misadventures across their surreal home of the Inkwell Isles, they’ve always got one another’s backs.
The cartoon was brought to life by the Cuphead merchandise license holders, King Features Syndicate, and Netflix. Cuphead creators Chad and Jared Moldenhauer will serve as executive producers on the series. No binge date was announced for the series.
