Marvel Tries To Recreate Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark With New High School Play Program

After making massive headlines years ago with the musical Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark, Marvel Comics is trying to recreate that on a smaller scale with a high school play program. Marvel Spotlight consists of three one-act plays created in partnership with theatrical publisher Samuel French.

The three one-act plays will be Christian Borle’s Hammered: A Thor & Loki Play; Karen Zacarías’ Squirrel Girl Goes to College: A Squirrel Girl Play; and Masi Asare’s Mirror of Most Value: A Ms. Marvel Play.

The plays, which will focus less on effects and more on storytelling, the opposite approach to the movies, will be offered with license fees of $75 per performance for one play or $125 per performance for two or more.
