If you enjoyed Tom Hardy’s New York accent in Venom, you’re in for a treat, as Sony has announced a sequel to the hit 2018 movie, which grossed $855 million.
Producer Amy Pascal said:
“I can say that Tom Hardy will be back, magnificently playing that character as no one else can. When you think of Venom, you’ll never be able to think of anyone but Tom Hardy sitting in that bathtub of lobsters. And once you saw Tom Hardy do this character, that’s all you needed to know.”
The film set itself up for a sequel, with a post-credits scene which saw Hardy’s Eddie Brock visiting San Quentin Prison to interview Woody Harrelson’s Cletus Kasady, who quips the cheesiest line in a movie full of cheesy lines: “When I get out of here — and I will — there’s gonna be carnage.”
Expect Carnage to be the big bad in Venom 2 when it comes out. And don’t rule out an appearance from Spider-Man either.
