Jill Soloway To Write/Direct Red Sonja Instead Of Bryan Singer

Millennium Films has hired Jill Soloway as writer/director on the upcoming Red Sonja movie. They replace Bryan Singer who was dropped from the film earlier this year, following more sexual assault allegations. Soloway is the creator of Transparent, for which they won two Emmys, and also produced Six Feet Under.

This will be the second big screen adaptation for Red Sonja, after 1985’s film, which starred Brigitte Nielsen and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Red Sonja was created by writer Roy Thomas and artist Barry Windsor-Smith for Marvel Comics in 1973, partially based on Robert E. Howard’s character Red Sonya of Rogatino, a female swashbuckler.
