Loki’s Past And Future Featured In September’s ‘Avengers: Loki Unleashed’ & ‘King Thor’

The Asgardian god of mischief Loki will be featured in two titles this September. The first is a one-shot tale of Loki’s past going back to the days just after the 1986-87 Avengers Under Siege storyline (Avengers #270-#277). Avengers: Loki Unleashed will see the return of the Under Siege arc writer Roger Stern to pen the issue, with artist Ron Lim joining him on art.

Here’s a description of the one-shot:

The Siege of Avengers Mansion is over, and the Avengers are battered and in disarray. It’s the worst time of all for Loki to discover a new source of mystic energies – one that connects to another classic villain and that will have dire consequences for all of reality unless those Avengers who remain standing are able to intercede!

Loki will also feature in writer Jason Aaron‘s final Thor story (for now anyway, and aside from his final arc in the Thor comic proper). This story will take the form of a 4-issue mini-series titled King Thor. If you have followed Aaron’s run on Thor, you’ll know that means a story about the distant future. Esad Ribic will be joining Aaron on the mini-series. Below is the cover(s) and solicitation for the first issue of King Thor:
