During Marvel‘s War of the Realms event, a new, all-Asian Agents of Atlas team debuted. Previously, the Agents of Atlas was a sort of 1950s Avengers, composed of the likes of former Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. Jimmy Woo, Namora, Gorilla-Man, M-11 the Human Robot, Uranian, and Venus. Recently Amadeus Cho (Brawn) sought to reassemble his “protectors” Shang-Chi, Silk, and Jimmy Woo to save the world. Well, it looks like the group he got was much bigger.
In War of the Realms: New Agents of Atlas, Cho and his protectors were joined by other Asian characters. White Fox originated in Korean Avengers web comics and made it into Marvel comics in the 2015 version of Contest of Champions. Sword Master and Aero debuted in Chinese web comics (which will be translated into English and released in the West in July). The videogame Marvel Future Fight launched the Korean heroes pop star Luna Snow, and partners Crescent and Io. Wave is a Filipino hero that debuted in the War of the Realms: New Agents of Atlas mini. All of these heroes will make of up the new (not New) Agents of Atlas in a new limited series.
The Agents of Atlas limited-series will land in August by writers Greg Pak and Jeff Parker, and artists Nico Leon and Carlo Pagulayan. In this new series:
“… the do-gooders find that someone has flipped a switch and created a “cross-Asian portal city” called Pan. In Pan, Asian neighborhoods get geographically scrambled and then stitched together into one city. So, the streets of Tokyo could be next to neighborhoods from Honolulu, Manila and some of Marvel’s fictitious Asian countries.”
