Writer Jim Zub is earning 2x experience later this year as he will be involved in writing two Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) comic mini-series. The first title was revealed at this past weekend’s D&D Live 2019: The Descent livestream event and is a return to a mini-series that was released last year.
Rick and Morty vs. Dungeons & Dragons II: Painscape has the comedic duo once again colliding with the fantastic. Here’s how D&D’s Wizards of the Coast describes the series:
Once upon a game, Rick, Morty and the Smith family went on magical D&D adventures… now, magical D&D adventures are coming to Earth, and no one will survive the Painscape! The world’s greatest role-playing game returns to plague the world’s most dysfunctional animated family!
As noted, Jim Zub will once again be writing the mashup, and artist Troy Little will also be returning after the two teamed up on the first Rick and Morty vs. Dungeons & Dragons. Though the Wizards site lists the four-issue mini-series put out by IDW Publishing and Oni Press as starting in April 2020, most sites are saying it starts September 18, 2019.
Zub is also reuniting with artist Max Dunbar as they go back to the D&D world of Baldur’s Gate. Dungeons & Dragons: Infernal Tides will be a five-issue mini-series published by IDW starting in November 2019. This will no doubt fit nicely alongside the updated D&D fifth edition Dungeons & Dragons Baldur’s Gate: Descent into Avernus game book also announced this past weekend. Here’s how IDW describes the mini-series:
In Infernal Tides, fan-favorite Minsc and his friends are caught in the middle of devil-tainted corruption that has taken hold of Baldur’s Gate. Unravelling the secret of its source will take the heroes to unexpected places and threaten the sanctity of their very souls. Even if they survive this perilous journey, there will be Hell to pay!
