Last year Star Trek fans were pleasantly surprised when it was announced that Patrick Stewart would be reprising his role as Star Trek: The Next Generation‘s Captain Jean-Luc Picard in a new series. Not much was officially revealed about the series since then, though we do know that it takes place after the series ended and post the events that caused the reboot movie’s Kelvin Timeline.
Up until now, we didn’t even know the title of the new series… Apparently neither did the director of the first two episodes of the series. CBS has decided to go the route that Star Wars did with their Han Solo focused spin-off, which made the title pretty guessable. So be prepared for… *drumroll please* Star Trek: Picard!
Please be surprised.
The title was revealed during CBS’ upfront presentation today. Star Trek: Picard should launch later this year, in the US it will be streamed on CBS All Access.
