DC Showcase Returns with New Shorts!

DC Showcase is making a comeback! The popular animated shorts that were included on various DC animated movies before almost all of them being included in Superman/Shazam!: The Return of Black Adam feature (save Catwoman short, which came after and was only included in Batman: Year One movie). The newest batch will begin in the next DC animated movie, Batman: Hush.

The first animated short will feature Sgt. Rock (voiced by Karl Urban), while the next batch will be feature Adam Strange, Death, The Phantom Stranger, and Batman: Death in the Family (which will be the Superman/Shazam! version of this set and will include all five in late 2020).

Sgt. Rock will also be executive produced and directed by Bruce TImm with a script by Louise Simonson & Walter Simonson and Tim Sheridan (he wrote this year’s Reign of the Supermen).

Adam Strange (voiced by Charlie Weber) will be written, produced, and directed by Butch Lukic (Batman Beyond), and J.M. DeMatteis will also share writing credit for this one. Death (will be voiced by Jaime Chung)  produced & directed by Sam Liu (Reign of the Supermen) and written also by DeMatteis. Leonardo Nam also is part of the casting and voicing a character named Vincent, a recently departed artist who Death helps cope with his legacy. The Phantom Stranger (voiced by Peter Serafinowicz) will again be produced and directed by Timm with a script by Ernie Altbacker. Long-time DCAU veteran Michael Rosenbaum will be voicing the antagonist for the short, Seth.

No word yet of the creative team behind Batman: Death of the Family, save that more information will be known in 2020.
