David Dastmalchian is jumping back to the DC Universe, after appearing in Marvel’s Ant-Man. The actor has signed a deal to star in James Gunn’s not-a-sequel-but-not-a-reboot Suicide Squad as Polka-Dot Man. That’s right. He’s Polka-Dot Man.
Created by Sheldon Moldoff and Charles Paris, Polka-Dot Man can turn the polka dots covering his costume into a variety of weapons. Examples include Flying Buzzsaw Dot, Flying Saucer Dot, Sun Dot, Bubble Dot, Fist Dots, and Hole Dot.
Gunn is writing and directing and joining Dastmalchian are Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, and Idris Elba in an unknown role. Other characters rumored to appear include Ratcatcher, Peacemaker, and King Shark.
Dastmalchian’s first movie role was in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight as Joker henchman Thomas Schiff. He also appeared as Abra Kadabra in CW’s The Flash.
The Suicide Squad is set to release Aug. 5, 2021.
